Praying for Peace in Jerusalem

Dear Beloved Church Family,

In this season when the world's attention is focused on the heart-wrenching events unfolding in Israel, our hearts are heavy, and our prayers are earnest. As followers of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, our hearts ache with compassion for those who are suffering, and we are moved to ask ourselves, "What can we do to help?"

As your pastor, I share in this sentiment and have already taken steps to reach out to extend our support. In times of tragedy, it is natural for us to wonder about our church's response, and I am grateful for your faith-filled concern.

I want to share with you that I have personally connected with Texas Baptist Men (TBM), a trusted organization with a heart for serving in times of crisis. TBM has mobilized a specialized feeding team that will soon be on its way to Israel, where they will provide essential meals to those caught in the midst of conflict. It's a testament to the love and compassion that our Christian community embodies.

This coming Sunday, during our worship service, we will have a special offering to support the mission of the Texas Baptist Men in addressing the urgent needs in Israel. Your generosity will make a tangible difference in the lives of those who are suffering.

Furthermore, I would like to invite you to a special business meeting scheduled for Sunday, October 22nd. During this meeting, we will discuss the possibility of allocating additional funds from our Patillo Baptist Church Mission budget to aid in this critical mission. Your input and participation are highly valued as we discern how best to extend God's love and grace to those in need.

Let us remember, dear brothers and sisters, the abundant grace and peace that God has lavished upon us, even in the midst of life's trials. It is a grace and peace that many in this world long for but have yet to experience. Therefore, let us remain steadfast in our commitment to Christ, continuing to love our neighbors as ourselves, even when they are on the other side of the globe.

In the spirit of unity and faith, may our prayers ascend for the peace of Jerusalem, and may we be the hands and feet of Christ to bring comfort and aid to those in distress.

In Christ,

Desi Henk
